Standard Usage:

For adults, as a dietary supplement, take 10 pills after a meal with warm water twice daily. If taking other medications or supplements, allow at least 2 hours before or after using this product.

Background

In Western Medicine

Enteritis means inflammation of the intestinal tract, especially of the small intestine. In some cases, the inflammation can also involve the stomach (gastritis) and large intestine (colitis).  Enteritis may be caused by irritants, poisons, viral or bacterial infections, radiation induced, medication induced, alcohol or drug induced, enteritis related to poor blood flow or other unknown factors.  Mild cases of enteritis generally clear up within a few days. They don’t require medical treatment. People with diarrhea must replenish their fluids. In some severe cases, it may be necessary to have surgery performed to cut out the part of the bowel that has been damaged.

In TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine)

In TCM, enteritis results from the deficiency of the spleen and stomach, declination of kidney yang, liver qi attacking the spleen, stasis blocking the intestinal vessels.  Chronic enteritis are frequent abdominal pain, abdominal distension, abdominal pain and diarrhea; these symptoms attack easily by catching cold, eating fatty food, or the fluctuations of mood or overworking.  

Symptoms

Different individuals may experience different symptoms, including:

- Diarrhea
- Nausea and vomiting
- Loss of appetite
- Abdominal cramps and pain
- Pain, bleeding, or mucus-like discharge from the rectum
- Bowel movements which are several times or more than ten times a day

- tenesmus sensation in the anus, difficult defecation.
- Intestinal obstruction

Diet & Prevention

Always wash your hands with soap and water when available and wash your hand after using the bathroom, before and after preparing food or drinks.  When traveling or away from running water, carry hand wipes. Don’t drink from outdoor wells or other water sources without first boiling the water.  Exercise daily to keep your body and immune system strong, Drink plenty of water. It is best to avoid eating chocolate, uncooked (raw), greasy, spicy and pungent food, seafood such as shrimp and shellfish. No smoking, drinking alcohol, coffee and cold beverages.
