In Western Medicine
Bromhidrosis is foul smelling body odor related to sweat. There are two types of sweat glands: Apocrine and Eccrine. Both types of sweat glands can lead to abnormal body odor. Apocrine glands are located primarily in the underarm, groin, and breast areas, and don’t become active until puberty. Eccrine sweat glands are all over the body.
In TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine)
There are three different categories of odors coming from our body. Body odor without sweat, sweat odor, and abnormal sweat odor. In TCM when the liver and gallbladder contain too much dampness it affects the stomach and the spleen function. In the case of food stagnation it causes strong smelling stool, perspiration pores and the body feeling hot and sweaty with abnormal odor.
